Ich bin ein großer Fan von Galileo Computing weil dieser Verlag unter http://www.galileocomputing.de/katalog/openbook eine mittlerweile doch sehr ansehnliche Auswahl an Büchern hat die man gratis und online direkt auf der Website oder sogar offline nach Download lesen darf. Diese Bücher sind nicht nur sozusagen Shareware oder Vorschau, nein sie sind ohne wenn und aber komplett.
Nun kann man argumentieren dass dies den Verkauf der angeboten Bücher mindern würde, das war aber zu mindestens bei mir nicht der Fall. Nicht nur hat der Verlag bei mir Sympathiepunkte sammeln können (im Zweifelsfall kauf ich bei denen!), nein so hat es auch eine ganz praktische Seite. Mein Pythonbuch zB. kann ich auch online lesen sollte ich es mal nicht dabei haben. Daraus geht schon hervor dass ich es auch gekauft habe, schließlich ist mir die Offlineversion "reale" Version daheim auf jeden Fall vor allem für längere Passagen lieber. Sollte ich aber unterwegs sein könnt ihr mir gerne glauben schenken dass ich den dicken Schmöker nicht herumschleppe, so bin ich dennoch froh auch schnell online in dem mir vertrauten Buch nachzuschlagen.
Warum ich gerade Heute dem Verlag einen Blogeintrag widme rührt daher dass ich heute ein neues Buch entdeckte: Ubuntu GNU/Linux - Das umfassende Handbuch, aktuell zu Ubuntu 9.04 ;aktueller gehts wohl kaum. Viel Spass beim lesen.
